Why Is Coconut Oil So Popular?

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

What's so special about coconut oil? For those asking what's so special about it, just know it's the bomb, ok. I love it because it can be used from head to toe and it's the healthiest oil to use for your skin. Plus you can use it in food too, how could you not love coconut oil?

These are ways you can use coconut oil:

  1. One way to use coconut oil is as a moisturizer. That's the most common one. You can use it on your face too, just make sure you use a small amount to avoid making your skin too oily and avoid clogging your pores. Coconut oil helps firm and moisturize the skin while giving you a nice glow.

  2. Oil pulling in my opinion is one of the best things I've added to my routine. It not only whitens your teeth, it also improves gum health and helps freshen breath by taking away the nasty bacteria in your mouth.

  3. Coconut oil is the best oil to use for hair. Hair products that have coconut oil in it leaves your hair silky smooth, moisturized and healthier.

  4. Using this oil in cookies also works pretty well too. In vegan chocolate chip cookies, coconut oil helps keep the cookies nice and soft. I'm not a vegan, but I can say vegan chocolate chip cookies are delicious.

  5. Applying coconut oil to your lashes can make them thicker and promote growth

  6. Use coconut oil instead of shaving cream!!!! It'll leave your skin sooo much more softer and smoother than shaving cream, I promise you.

Well Zara, what's the benefit of coconut oil? Why should I really buy it? Is it really worth it? Yes, let me tell you!

Skin Care:

You might find yourself asking these questions, but lucky you, I've got the answers. Since it helps keep your skin nice and moisturized, it aids in healing wounds. It also protects the skin from harmful bacteria. It's also good for protecting you from UV Rays as well as helps relieve burns.

Hair Care:

Most women or men that live on the tropical coastal regions have very good healthy and shiny hair because they use products that include coconut oil in them. It aids in reducing protein loss, which helps the strand become healthier and stronger. Using coconut oil on your scalp not oil promotes growth, but it also helps moisturize the hair shaft and prevent dandruff. It's also a good oil to use if you use heat on your lot. Maybe try a DIY coconut oil hair mask when you're transitioning your hair back to curly. This puts all the oils back into your hair, making your hair soft, shiny and looking alive!

Below I'm going to list some of the DIY skin care and hair care recipes I use!

Coconut Protein Hair Mask:

2 tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

1 tsp Raw Honey

1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil

1 Egg

Instructions:

Melt coconut oil and mix the ingredients together. Apply mask to damp hair and put a cap or bag over your hair for 30 minutes. Wash and style hair as normal.

Coconut oil body moisturizer:

1/2 Coconut Oil

1/2 Shea Butter

1 tbsp Vitamin E Oil

**1 tsp Vanilla Extract

**3-5 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Instructions:

Melt Coconut oil and Shea Butter together in a glass or metal bowl by double boiling. DO NOT MICROWAVE! After the oil and butter and melted, add in the Vitamin E oil and Vanilla Extract if you want to smell like cupcakes (my favorite) or for a more calming scent use Lavender Oil. You can either use and electric mixer if you want a body moisturizer whip or you can poor the mixture in a glass mason jar and use it as a balm.

Lip Scrub:

1 tbsp Brown Sugar

1 tsp Coconut oil

1 tsp Honey

**1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

In a small bowl mix together all ingredients and your lip scrub is ready to go. If you want it to have a nice smell to it add Vanilla.
